Summer School of Croatian Language and Culture officially opened

At the Center for Croatian Studies Abroad (CEHAS), Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences, University of Split on 30 June 2025 The Summer School of Croatian Language and Culture was officially opened

On behalf of the Faculty, Associate Professor Dr. Nikša Varezić, Vice Dean for Research and International Cooperation, welcomed the participants, expressing his warm greetings and encouraging them to immerse themselves in the Croatian language and culture, not only by learning the language but also by getting to know Croatian customs and traditions. He thanked them for choosing the Faculty of Humanities and Social Sciences in Split.
The participants were also welcomed by the Head of CEHAS, Dr. Josipa Korljan Bešlić, who introduced them to the work of the Center. She emphasized that the Summer School of Croatian Language and Culture has been bringing together participants from all over the world since 2007—those eager to deepen their understanding of the Croatian language and culture.
This year, the Summer School is organized into three groups based on language proficiency levels, led by lecturers Ina Bilonić, Nevena Čudina Turčinov, and Lucija Bradarić. In addition to the intensive three-week course in Croatian language and culture, the program includes visits to museums and galleries, as well as field classes, which will take place this year on the island of Brač.

 

Following an introductory meet-and-greet over coffee and pastries, participants began their lessons.
