A trip to the island of Brač

On Monday, May 5, 2025 5. 2025. CEHAS participants, accompanied by their lecturers, went on another field trip, this time to the island of Brač. The good atmosphere was present from the early morning, and with coffee, light music, and conversation, we quickly sailed into Supetar.

The trip began with a visit to the Museum of the Island of Brač in Škrip, the oldest settlement on the island. There, we learned more about the long-standing tradition and history of Brač. Did you know that Brač stone isn’t quarried but rather “picked”? One particularly interesting and touching story was about the many families who left the island in search of a better life in South America. For our participants, this was an opportunity to connect with each other more closely and learn more about their own family histories. Full of impressions and new information, we continued the trip to the highest point of all Adriatic islands – Vidova Gora (778 m), from which there is a view of Zlatni Rat, one of the most beautiful and well-known beaches. Battling strong jugo wind, we climbed to the very top and enjoyed the view, capturing the moment with a group photo. Next stop – Bol. Time for a walk, lunch, and socializing, and the bravest participants even went for a swim despite the waves.

A bit tired but happy, we returned to Split in the evening with a shared conclusion – we can’t wait for our next adventure!
